Right now, Alabama doesn’t have a formal process for filing a complaint, but you can contact your local county office and ask to speak with a supervisor. Start by calling the office listed on any CPS paperwork you’ve received. See Q&A below for more detailed information.

There is no state-level ombudsman, so most concerns are handled locally.

How and where to file the grievance?

No formal grievance process instead you can contact your local county child welfare office if you have a complaint. Contact information is available through the Alabama Department of Human Resources website. Each county has a child welfare office phone number (sometimes called Family and Child Services). There is also an email listed for each County DHR Director.
