Wondering how to file a CPS complaint in Alaska?

Good news—Alaska makes it easy to get started. You don’t need to take any steps before filing. Just complete the complaint form and send it in by mail, email, or fax. After you send your complaint, the Community Relations Manager will review it and help guide the next steps. See Q&A below for more detailed information.

No prior steps need to be taken.

Complete the complaint form from the Alaska Department of Children and Families.

Follow Up
What to expect after filing and how to track the progress of your grievance?

Grievance Process:

  1. Community Relations Manager will review complaint within 5 business days of receipt
  2. If complaint denied: you will be provided reasons and next steps
  3. If complaint is accepted: You will meet with a First-Level Reviewer within 10 business days. You will then receive a decision within 15 business days
  4. You may submit an appeal within 10 days of the decision. If appeal is submitted a Second-level reviewer will make a decision
  5. If you again disagree with the decision, you can file a review by a Third-Level reviewer. This will be considered the final action by the child welfare agency
  6. If you still disagree after the third-level review, you may file for judicial review through the superior court
