Are there any steps that must be taken prior to filing a grievance?
No prior steps need to be taken.

What to expect after filing and how to track the progress of your grievance?
Grievance Process:
- Community Relations Manager will review complaint within 5 business days of receipt
- If complaint denied: you will be provided reasons and next steps
- If complaint is accepted: You will meet with a First-Level Reviewer within 10 business days. You will then receive a decision within 15 business days
- You may submit an appeal within 10 days of the decision. If appeal is submitted a Second-level reviewer will make a decision
- If you again disagree with the decision, you can file a review by a Third-Level reviewer. This will be considered the final action by the child welfare agency
- If you still disagree after the third-level review, you may file for judicial review through the superior court
