Are there any steps that must be taken prior to filing a grievance?
Individuals are encouraged to resolve their complaint at the level where the issue took place. Try having a discussion with staff or the supervisors involved.
How and where to file the grievance?
Informal grievance process may be completed by an oral or written request for remedy made to the Department staff member or a supervisor. If unresolved, contact the Office of the Child Advocate. What to expect after filing and how to track the progress of your grievance?
Supervisor on the issue will follow-up with you within 10 days of receiving your complaint. You may appeal the decision made regarding your complaint through a hearing process. The chief executive of the division will oversee the hearing within 10 days of appeal.
If complaint continues to go unresolved, you may appeal directly to the Executive Office of Health and Human Services Appeals Office (EOHHS) within 30 days of chief executive's decision.
